It's clear that Dominos businesses model has morphed from "30 minutes or less" to having a pickup option (there wasn't one that I know of, BITD) to having in-store dining to charging the cost of, basically, their cheapest product as a delivery charge to recoup their costs from earlier loss leader practices. so delivery charge is in place for mileage reimbursement, paying driver wages, and (most noteably) insurance coverage. maybe 50¢ actually goes to the driver for each charge and the rest is insurance, in case the driver hits someone and the injured person tries to sue the company. the driver still needs to have their own insurance, paid for with their own money. But I stuck around. And everything went back to normal. Still get stiffed way more. And delivery charge kept going up. 2. 2.5. 3. 3.75. 4. 5. But customers were nice and still tipped. Got stiffed less and less because they understand the delivery charge is not a tip. Well it was fun. Had a good run.
