Barrows equipment encompasses four sets for melee: Verac’s, Torag’s Dharok’s, and Guthan’s, while Magic and Ranged have Ahrim’s and Karil’s sets, respectively. Black d hide is even more op for its price, but karils isn't exactly expensive. Karils skirt is like 2m and black dhide is 8k. Black dhide has better melee defense where as Karils has slightly better range and mage defense by around 15% in terms of numbers. The cost difference between black dhide and Karils is 99.6%. Karil's crossbow requires 70 Ranged and will perform well against all enemies, especially with the Amulet of the Damned's double-tap effect with Karil's equipment. Karils is more useful in many circumstances. I'd say go with Karils. You rarely range a monster who uses melee up close where he can hurt you, if defense matters. The day has finally come!
